Below is the text of the letter Tristan wrote about her Dad
that was read at the funeral service

I’ve always known that my dad was a kind, gentle, patient, loyal, caring man and just about the friendliest person you could ever meet, but until just about 3 to 4 weeks ago I discovered what a wonderful dad he was. My relationship went from him just being my dad, to him becoming my best friend. Most people may remember him as being a quiet person but believe it or not when we were alone we talked for hours. My dad being a very bright and intelligent person, I didn’t always understand all the technical, mathematical things he talked about, but I just sat and listened, because I just loved to spend time with him.

My dad treated me like I was his princess. A couple weeks ago I asked him if I could have a puppy at his house, I wasn’t sure what he would say because he already had 3 dogs that lived inside, but when I asked him he said “Most definitely. You know I would give you anything in the world if I could.”  And I knew what he said was true! When I stayed at my dad’s I ate like a king! Every morning I would wake up to the smell of pancakes and he would bring me breakfast in bed. And for dinner, even though there were only 2 of us, he made enough food to feed at least 2 families. My dad knew that my favorite food was potatoes, so last week one night we stayed up until 4am trying to see how many different types of potatoes we could make. There are a countless number of fun times we shared together these past few weeks.

Although my dad’s death was unexpected and something I thought I would never have to deal with any time soon, I choose to remember my dad as the person I always looked up to, the greatest, strongest, toughest, sweetest guy in the world, my best friend and my hero.

None of us, even the "good ones" like Leyton, know what tomorrow may hold. Take time today to get to know your friends & family, to spend time with those you love when you get the chance and to heal any relationships that need it. The first step is to daily put God first and continually resist the devil. Love God & each other while we are able.

James 4:13-15 NIV

Now listen, you who say, "Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money." 14Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. 15Instead, you ought to say, "If it is the Lord's will, we will live and do this or that."
